Disclaimer

Nutritional and Lifestyle Therapy does not offer diagnosis, treatment, or cures for any condition, syndrome, disease, or illness, but instead works to support individuals' health, peak performance, and individual care as a complementary therapy which may or may not be used alongside conventional medical treatment. It is not a replacement to medical services, and all consultations require "red flag" checks to ensure safety and referral to GP or PCP if necessary.

BANT members practising Nutritional Therapy only use scientific evidence from nutrition, genetics, epigenetics, and other relevant physiological research to inform recommendations to clients, whether they are seeking health improvement, peak performance, or improving quality of life in the case of supporting persons with chronic conditions.

BANT members are required to be CNHC registered if practising Nutritional Therapy, and may then take referrals from GPs. BANT member Nutritional Therapists are registrants on the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA), which is an accredited register held by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). The PSA are accountable to Parliament, requiring the same level of standards for healthcare professions whether CNHC, HCPC, GMC, or other health professions' bodies.

BANT members are qualified with a BSc or above in Nutrition/Human Nutrition/etc. and have passed an NTEC accredited training course in Nutritional Therapy including clinical training in order to work with individuals in addition to other modes of work involving nutrition science. Only Dietitians and Registered Nutritional Therapists in the UK have the clinical training as part of their education to work with individuals in the UK needing dietary intervention. Nutritional Therapists do not work in acute care, tube feeding, with chronic kidney disease, or end-of-life scenarios.

BANT members follow a strict set of practice and scope rules, including GDPR, ethics, CPD requirements (30+ hours, and include reflective practice), and services are offered strictly within the context of appointments such as ordering and interpreting functional lab testing and prescription of dietary changes, supplements, or lifestyle practices. We do not offer such services outside of a consultation as a standalone offer.
